The Death Sigh

The Death Sigh (2024) is a collaborative piece for the musical event Lumia Musica at the University of North Texas College of Music. I worked with composer Beige Cowell to create the visuals for this piece. I used Blender for the 3D modeling and animation and Automatic1111 Stable Diffusion for the textures.

Here is the performance of The Death Sigh as seen at the 2024 Lumia Musica event.

Here is the video without the performance:

Where did this idea come from?

This fall, I’ve been experimenting with using AI in Blender. These videos show some early sketches of what I was experimenting with.

In these videos, I asked Chat GPT what certain concepts looked like in Blender’s Python Script so the concepts could take shape in a 3D animated form.

Here are some examples of what Chat gave me.

As you can see, it’s simple shapes and simple animations. I used one of these animations as a starting point for The Death Sigh.
